Alaska Airlines will launch nonstop flights from Seattle to Athens and Paris next spring, adding two highly requested destinations to its international network.
Tickets for the new routes went on sale today. Both routes will operate on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, with introductory roundtrip fares starting at $999 for Main Cabin seats available through August 26.
First nonstop service from Seattle to Athens
The Athens route will be the first direct connection between the Pacific Northwest and Greece’s capital. Starting May 12, 2027, the seasonal service will run three times a week, marking the longest route in Alaska’s history.
“We fly where our guests want to go, and Athens and Paris have topped that list for years,” said Ben Minicucci, CEO of Alaska Airlines. The expansion will bring the airline’s international long-haul routes from Seattle to more than 12 in the coming years, offering travelers additional global connections.
George Kallimasias, managing director and CEO of Athens International Airport, described the new route as a bridge for tourism, business, and trade between Greece and the U.S. West Coast. When it begins, it will be the only nonstop flight from the West Coast to Athens.
Paris service expands access to Europe
Paris, one of the most searched destinations on Alaska’s website, will receive five weekly nonstop flights starting May 25, 2027.

The new service will simplify connections for travelers from Hawaii to Europe via Seattle. Alaska operates its second-largest hub in Honolulu, and the airline stated the routes will allow same-day connections between the islands and Paris.
Both flights will include Alaska’s new long-haul international experience, featuring lie-flat Suites in business class, multi-course dining, and complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi for Atmos Rewards members. The airline has collaborated with West Coast brands Filson and Salt & Stone for premium travel amenities.
A growing global network
With Athens and Paris added, Alaska will serve seven intercontinental destinations from Seattle, including London, Rome, Reykjavik, Seoul, and Tokyo. The airline intends to add at least five more long-haul routes by 2030, reinforcing its position as Seattle’s largest international carrier.
The expansion coincides with Alaska’s fleet modernization, which includes more Dreamliners. The airline is also developing a new international lounge in Seattle and refining its onboard service, though details remain limited.
For now, the focus remains on immediate growth. The new routes arrive as Alaska strengthens its partnerships, including its role in the oneworld alliance, which provides connections to hundreds of destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
This move aligns with the airline’s existing operations, which include over 360 peak-day departures and 110 nonstop destinations from the Seattle area. Demand for these routes is clear, and the challenge will be maintaining service quality while expanding its reach.
