Nuns Lead Unique Wellness Retreat in Provence

This November, the Lou Calen hotel in Provence will host a unique wellness retreat, focusing on sound therapy and Qi Gong. The three-day retreat, running from 6 to 8 November 2026, will be led by sound therapist Erycka Savarin de Marestan and Qi Gong teacher Florence Peltier.

The retreat is capped at just fifteen guests, ensuring a personalized experience. The program includes a range of activities, such as gong baths, sound yoga, conscious breathing, and art therapy.

Immersive Experience

A highlight of the retreat is a walk up to the Saint-Joseph monastery, where the sisters perform live Gregorian chant for the group. This unique experience is a key part of the program, offering a chance to connect with the local community and experience the beauty of the monastery.

The retreat’s timing is deliberate, taking place in November rather than the traditional January reset. This allows guests to pause before the party season begins, in a Provence of soft light, quiet lanes, and autumn produce.

Program Details

The program includes a range of activities, such as sound meditation, conscious breathing, and gentle Qi Gong. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in art therapy, breathwork for emotional release, and an introduction to foot and hand reflexology.

Vegetarian lunches and dinners will be provided throughout the retreat, and accommodation will be at the Lou Calen hotel for the two nights. The full program and bookings are available on the Lou Calen website.

The combination of sound therapy, Qi Gong, and the unique setting of the Saint-Joseph monastery makes this retreat a truly immersive experience. By taking a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, guests can focus on their well-being and connect with nature and the local community.

A Unique Approach

Unlike other wellness retreats, the Lou Calen retreat offers a unique approach to sound therapy and Qi Gong. The program is designed to be low-impact and optional, making it suitable for first-timers as well as seasoned retreat-goers. The emphasis on live Gregorian chant and the beautiful setting of Provence add to the retreat’s unique charm.

By hosting the retreat in November, Lou Calen is making the case for a pre-party season pause, allowing guests to recharge before the holiday season begins. The retreat’s focus on sound therapy, Qi Gong, and community connection makes it an attractive option for those looking for a unique and immersive wellness experience.
